Hemp Seeds and CBD content
Please see this link: http://www.veterinarypracticenews.com/FAQ-What-You-Need-to-Know-About-Hemp-and-Dogs/
Written by a respectful vet in the usa. This vet has confused consumer dog owners
Both hemp & marijuana are derived from the cannabis plant cannabis contains the much talked about medicinal ingredient CBD
This vet compares the CBD content in hemp with that of marijuana. CBD content has drawn both negative & positive attention as a medicinal ingredient for dogs. of these, the vet stresses the potentially negative unknowns with CBD & dogs.
And yes its true that marijuana has the high THC content, a psychoactive CBD, and the hemp by contrast has the low, almost non existent THC content, (both types of CBD have potential medicinal properties).
But this applies to the leaves NOT the seeds, which she doesnt draw the distinction to in her article. (interestingly, the vet has even included pics of the hemp seeds in a bowl !! )
The seeds have no CBD content, (and in fact its illegal wihtout a license)in Canada to harvest the hemp leaves because of the CBD content.
It is true that with both the psychoactive CBDs like THC and the non psychoactive CBDs, we have only anecdotal evidence for medicinal properties, and therefore should be used in caution.
But with the hemp seeds (oil) , we speak to only the nutritional content present , and the humanized relationship to people food as those compared in the human food markets - ie hemp seeds sold by Costco and Whole Foods health food stores as a health food.
So in the Benny Bullys Liver Hemp, there should be no issue to concerned vets and pet owners on the safety of this product with respect to CBDs, an uncharted territory at present. Benny Bullys Liver Hemp, is made with only hemp seeds, which contain no CBDs (or trace amounts) and is clearly indicated as such on the packaging.
HEMP SEEDS DONT HAVE CBDs this vet has confused the public
Where are Benny Bullys® treats made ?
Benny Bullys® treats are sourced from ingredients made in either USA or Canada. NO OFFSHORE SOURCES. All ingredients meet the same government USDA/CFIA inspections as human edible food.
What can I do to maintain the freshness of my bag of Benny Bullys® treats ?
Benny Bullys® treats are made as dry as possible, to stop the growth of bacteria. They will slowly re-hyrdate if exposed to open air. To help keep out moisutre, keep the bag sealed, and store in a cool dry place at room temperature. Moist pieces, or those exposed to the open air for significant time should not be returned into the package.
Larger bags will stay fresher longer, if you use a second smaller container from which to treat your dog. This keeps the main portion sealed longer.
Do Benny Bullys® treats contain any additives or preservatives ?
All Benny Bullys® treats are 100% Pure. All Benny Bullys treats are freeze dried using a proprietary process. This leaves very little moisture in the treats, bacteria can't grow without moisture allowing for a very long shelf life with no need for additives or preservatives.
All Benny Bullys products are wheat and grain-free.
What are the feeding guidelines for Benny Bullys® treats
Feed your pet a few pieces. Benny Bullys® treats can also be mixed in with kibble for fussy pets that aren't eating or have health issues. Benny Bullys NutriMix® and Benny Bullys® Liver Plus can be used for pets on a restricted diet or with allergies.
What is the difference between Benny Bullys® Dog Treats and Cat Treats
All Benny Bullys® cat treats are smaller, and have been taste tested with cats. The ingredients used are the same. But are processed into smaller pieces. Dog treats may be used for cats, but should be carefully broken up before feeding.
Does animal liver contain toxins due to it's role as a filtering organ?
Beef liver is a common pet treat, and has been used in pet food over the last 50 years. Moreover, it has been a consumable part of human and dog/cat diets for 1000's of years.
The role of the liver is to neutralize toxins. The liver does not store toxins.
But it is a storage organ for many important nutrients (vitamins A, D, E, K, B12 and folic acid, and minerals such as copper and iron). These nutrients provide the body with some of the tools it needs to get rid of toxins.
